Gallivanting Gelandewagen - The Adventures of Rosie, the G Wagen p.1

We'll call this an introduction to Rosie the G - a 2001 Mercedes G500 that was imported by Europa.

It's main purpose in life is to explore as much as it can while slowly being built up to be a nearly self sustaining, but ultimately capable travel vehicle.

There's no rhyme or reason as to what this G's "build" is going to be, other than being assembled on pure necessity.

Need a place to sleep, so an ARB Touring Simpson roof top tent is placed on a pair of Frontrunner load bars. Additionally, a nice platform to cook over a fire provided by the Frontrunner Brai spare tire mounted grill.

As the adventures develop, Rosie's overall function and collection of parts will develop with the adventure.

For it's first round of adventure (pre-corona), a 2" lift on 33" BFG K02 were installed

The combination has proven invaluable as it's already conquering some of the most well known offroad trails in the US in Moab.

Waiting for the rest of the pack to catch up, the diff locks are a treat when crawling up rocky terrain. They also help with damage control, avoiding snapping axles when a wheel remakes contact with the ground after a wheel lift.

The entire purpose of this "build" is to maintain poise on road, just as much as it's refined offroad.

So we can go from scenery like this:

To this:

To this:

and then come home, and immediately be put to working, towing things like this.

We'll see how the adventures progress.
